Really the only way to get to the best snorkel spots in the BVI is by boat charter. There are 2 different kinds of boat charters. There are the big boats that haul a lot of people, who price their trips "per person," and there is the private charter boats that will take just a small group like you, your friends or family, who charge by "the boat". Obviously, the big boats can be cheaper if there are only 1 or 2 of you, but a family or group of 6 or so friends will find they can get a private charter for about the same price. The benefit to the private charter is that you choose where you want to go and how long you stay at each place. The bigger boats tend to have a set itinerary, plus they can be a little like traveling in a school bus with all the other people.
People always need somewhere to put things they do not use all the time, such as the type of items you would put in an attic or basement. Some people do not have those areas, or perhaps they have converted them to family areas. They still need somewhere safe to put the Christmas tree ornaments; the good dishes Aunt Edna gave them, or the dining room set they are planning to refinish someday. They also need a place to store the boat, four-wheeler, or vintage car they are rebuilding.

On land, you can do it the old fashioned way and go on fantastic bushwalks or you can rent a dirt bike, take a 4WD tour or even rent a Harley Davidson. In the water, take your choice between scuba diving, snorkeling, taking a guided sea kayak tour or, if speed is your thing, jet ski or water ski. For the ultimate in luxury, you can even rent a yacht.
Yacht: From their humble origin in the past the sail boats of old have slowly evolved into the luxury boats of the wealthy. As late as the nineteen eighties electric lights in a yacht was not common. Now most yachts will have refrigerators, air-conditioning, and state-of-the-art cooking appliances. Yachts today use a combination of sails and motor for propulsion. A yacht boat rental is not cheap, but it would be one of the most memorable vacations you'll ever experience.
