When the spool is to the left, the excessive-pressure oil goes to the left aspect of the cylinder, pushing the piston outward. When the spool is to the appropriate, it pushes the piston back in. As the excessive-pressure oil pushes on one facet, the low-strain oil on the opposite facet is pressured again into the oil tank.

Leakage
Leakage to the atmosphere. A The massive gland area of those valves is susceptible to loosening because of vibrations. In dirty environments, a gate traveling out of the body can entice deposits that deteriorate gland sealing. In contrast to spherical stem gland packings, it is not simple to uniformly compress the rectangular, check valvewafer butterfly valve square section packing. Stay loading by springs or Belleville washers is sometimes used but solely marginally effective. Periodic checks and tightening of gland packing to arrest any noticed leakage are really useful.

Under was a rearranged model group. One-Fifty was renamed Delray (borrowed from a spiffy 1954-57 Two-Ten two-door sedan), Biscayne changed Two-Ten, and "Station Wagon" was a separate line with no fewer than five models: two-door Yeoman and 4-door Yeoman, Brookwood (in six- and nine-seat form), and Nomad. Not like the 1955-57 Nomad, the '58 was conventionally styled.
